Skiing Holidays in Val d'Isere, Courchevel and La Plagne (Paradiski)

SKIING or BOARDING DAY

7.30am - the alarm goes off, the sun streaming in through the curtains. Great another day of perfect snow, freezing cold but blue skies and glorious sunshine as can only be experienced in the mountains.

8.00am - through to the chalet's communal living dining room to be greeted by the cheerful chalet staff and the lovely smell of freshly brewed coffee. Sit down to a hearty breakfast of; tea, coffee, fruit juice, porridge, muesli, cereal, yoghurts, various combinations of: eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans etc., plus bread, jam and honey. Then it is off to get ready for a day on the slopes, remembering the lift pass and the suntan cream.

8.50am - all the gear is on, stroll out of the chalet and head off to the first lift of the day.

9.00am - sitting on the chair lift, only a handful of other skiers in sight - perfect. Ski board all morning, stop for a hot chocolate at a picturesque mountain restaurant. Cover heaps of ground and look at the wonderful scenery, study the piste map and decide where to have lunch.

12.45pm - lunch, it is warm enough to sit outside and soak up the sun and view. Legs a little tired, wonder if they will manage the afternoon.

2.15pm - set off again, legs feel fine now they are off. Ski board all afternoon, back to some of the fun slopes discovered in the morning and lots of new ones too.

4.30pm - find the way back to the chalet and stagger through the door to find a wonderful afternoon tea waiting on the table.

5.00pm - sitting, relaxed in a big comfy sofa, cup of tea in hand and a delicious slice of freshly baked chocolate cake - heaven.

5.55pm - off to the bedroom to clamber out of the ski gear and wash those aching limbs, might fit in a snooze too!

7.00pm - back to the lounge for a quick game of scrabble or perhaps to just review the day with the staff and other guests, some of whom have already had a walk into the town to explore shops & buy postcards. Also time for a pre-dinner drink - good old duty free.

8.00pm -sit down to a wonderful dinner:
Roast pumpkin, olive and courgette risotto,
Duck with port and rasberry sauce, sweet potato puree, mange tout & rosti potatoes
Mixed green leaf salad
Cream filled profiteroles with tangy chocolate sauce.
Tome de Savoie (local cheese)
accompanied by good quality red and white wine. All prepared and served by talented, and friendly chalet staff, who chat throughout dinner and sit down for the main course. They are happy to hear all the events of the day and advise on a route for tomorrow.

10.00pm - to round up a wonderful evening, coffee and tea, served in the lounge, followed by lots more chat and dipping in to the duty free supply. Some of the energetic ones in the group are venturing out to sample the apres ski!

11.30pm - if the legs will manage off to bed dreaming of more skiing and breakfast!
