Resort News 2007/2008

A "Rail park" is being created, the first in the Three Valleys. It is to be in Courchevel 1850 at the bottom of the Plantrey Chairlift. It will have an initiation area, a line of shaped bumps and a line of rails for experienced. There will be staff on hand to offer advice.

The courchevel lift pass company, s3v, are upgrading many of the older snow cannons and they are creating a new water reservoir to ensure there is enough water for snow making. They intend to remodelling some pistes & drag lift tracks to ensure that snow is held on the pistes and that they are comfortable for skiers. and snowboarders.

In the summer of 2004 the old Dou du Midi two person chairlift from Courchevel 1550 to Courchevel 1850 was replaced by a new high speed 6 person chairlift, Tovets. The new chairlift starts from a similar position, to the old lift, near the hotel Flocons, but takes a completely different route up the mountain, arriving opposite the Kalico bar just beside the ice rink in Courchevel 1850. From there it is a gentle ski down the green run to the Plantrey high speed chairlift or a short walk to all the Croisette lifts and/or ski school meeting points.

At the same time in Courchevel 1550, the pistes down to the new chairlift were reconstructed. This was a bonus to all staying in our three chalets: Chalet Marmottons, Chalet Delage, and Chalet Reposoir as it is now an easy blue run down to the chairlift in the morning. This should make it a simple matter for all our clients, except complete novices, to start the day on skis or boards rather than using a mini bus transfer to the first lift.
