TRAVEL BY CAR TO FINLAYS SKIING HOLIDAYS CATERED CHALETS IN COURCHEVEL

From Calais it is about 660 miles to Courchevel. There are two autoroutes/peages that can be taken, these are the French motorways. The autoroutes are toll roads, payment can be made by credit cards or Euros. Fuel, particularly diesel, is normally cheaper in France, so you may want to fill up your tank on arrival in France.

Route 1 - From CALAIS follow the A26 towards REIMS and onto TROYES. Follow the autoroute towards and around DIJON and join the A6 at BEAUNE towards LYON. On to the A43 at LYON towards CHAMBERY and follow the autoroute to ALBERTVILLE. From Albertville take the N90 to MOUTIERS.

Route 2 - (Only use in the event of any problems with route 1)
From CALAIS follow the A26 then A1 to PARIS. Follow the ring road onto the A6 towards LYON. On to the A43 at LYON, towards CHAMBERY and follow the autoroute to ALBERTVILLE. From Albertville take the N90 to MOUTIERS.

From MOUTIERS follow the signs for Courchevel, passing through the villages of St. Bon & Le Praz. Once through Le Praz keep following the signs for Courchevel 1850, after approximately 2km the main road bends left this is where the route divides for Courchevel 1550 and Courchevel 1850.

FOR COURCHEVEL 1550 - Chalets Petit Collu, Grand Cerf, Marmottons, Reposoir, Delage and Barragiste.
Turn right off the road from Le Praz (appears straight on) following the signs for Courchevel 1550. Drive into the village and at the roundabout turn right for Chalets; Petit Collu, Grand Cerf, Marmottons, Reposoir and Delage and left for Chalet Barragiste.
From this point follow the individual chalet directions below.

PETIT COLLU - follow the main street for approx. 400m, the chalet is on the right, opposite the nursery slopes and just before the restaurant "l'Oeil de Boeuf".

GRAND CERF - follow the main street, drive past the the nursery slopes on the left, then through a parking area the chalet is then 200m further on, on the left, situated on a left hand bend in the road.

REPOSOIR and MARMOTTONS - follow the main street, drive past the the nursery slopes on the left, then through a parking area carry on past Grand Cerf on the left and follow the road past Les Brigues Residence (on your right hand side as you go round a sharp left hand bend), carry on up the hill and just before the next sharp right hand bend you will see the sign for Reposoir and Marmottons - on your right.

DELAGE - follow the main street, drive past the the nursery slopes on the left, then through a parking area carry on past Grand Cerf on the left and follow the road past Les Brigues Residence (on your right hand side as you go round a sharp left hand bend), carry on up the hill and just after the next sharp right hand bend you will find chalet Delage is on your left.

<BARRAGISTE - having turned left at the roundabout follow the road up hill for 300 metres, you will see chalet Barragiste on your right, turn right onto the track to the front door.

FOR COURCHEVEL 1850 - Chalet Elan & Chalet St Bernard.
Follow the signs from Moutiers, passing through the villages of St. Bon and Le Praz following signs for Courchevel 1850. Once at Courchevel 1850 drive into the town as far as the Forum (a large building on your right where the ice rink, conference hall, bowling halls etc. are housed). Just after the forum you will come to a small roundabout.

ELAN - turn right at the forum roundabout and simply follow the road (rue du Plantrey) all the way down and round the hill. Chalet Elan is the 3rd last chalet on your right.

ST. BERNARD - turn left at the forum roundabout and follow this road round under a bridge and you will see chalet St Bernard soon after this straight ahead of you. The chalet is on the right hand side of the road on a left hand bend.

NOTE
The roads are normally clear of snow until Moutiers but from then on, it may prove necessary to use chains. It can snow at any time, even in late Spring, and the police often stop vehicles before they start the climb to the resorts in order to ensure that chains are on the wheels. Vehicles that do not have chains will not be allowed to commence the ascent.

When driving in France it is essential to have the following :-

  1. Green Card - the international comprehensive car insurance. This is
    normally given automatically on request from your Insurance Company.
  2. Spare set of car light bulbs.
  3. Warning triangle.
  4. All documentation relating to the car - registration, insurance, MOT etc..
  5. A "GB" sticker on the rear of your vehicle.

DRIVING FROM GENEVA AIRPORT TO FINLAYS SKIING HOLIDAYS CATERED CHALETS IN COURCHEVEL

On leaving the airport follow the green signs for France.

These signs lead you, via the motorway/duel carriage way, to the Swiss/French border.

Once past the two custom posts follow signs for Annecy - first filter to the right.

There are two choices of route to Annecy - both taking about the same length of time.

a) Route national - green signs
b) Autoroutepeage - blue signs, this is the motorway which you pay to travel on.

At Annecy, travel through the town following signs for Albertville.

Continue on to Albertville and once there follow signs for Moutiers.

From Moutiers follow the signs for Courchevel, passing through the villages of St. Bon & Le Praz. Once through Le Praz keep follow signs for Courchevel 1850, after approximately 2km the main road bends left this is where the route divides for those staying in Courchevel 1550 and 1850.

FOR COURCHEVEL 1550, Chalets Petit Collu, Grand Cerf, Marmottons, Reposoir, Delage and Barragiste.

On leaving the airport follow the green signs for Chambery and the A43.

At Chambery follow signs for the A430 and Albertville.

From Albertville you need to follow signes to Moutiers and the N90.
