Paradiski, La Plagne & Les Coches News - 2007 - 2008
- on the 21st December 2007 the lift companies of La Plagne and Les Arcs announced that the Vanoise Express cable car which links the two resorts, creating the "Paradiski" region, will not run this winter season.
We understand that a fault has been discovered in the cable. Work cannot be carried out during the winter, so it will be repaired in the spring/summer and be ready for next season.
It is disappointing news, but the resort of La Plagne on its own has very extensive skiing with over 100 lifts and 225 kilometers of pistes, see above for more specifications.
Also, a La Plagne lift pass will allow one day of skiing in Les Arcs so as a company we hope to be able to offer our clients a trip to Les Arcs once during their stay in Les Coches.
- they been working hard this summer and have constructed a very much larger reservoir for water storage. This water is used for snowmaking thoughout the winter. This increased capacity should be of real benefit to our clients as the resort intends to use it in part to ensure that the run back to Les Coches, that passes most of our chalets remains open for most of the season.
- work has continued over the summer on the beginners ski area, the piste has been regraded so the slope is gentler & more regular and a new draglift has been installed.
- this was not built last winter we think it wil be constructed for this winter season. It is planned to be a futuristic lift linking the main part of Les Coches with the Lac Noir bubble lift & skating rink. Making the bubble a viable way to start skiing in the morning, it will also run in the evenings.
- last winter a brand new chairlift replaced the very old, very slow 2 man chairlift Planbois. It made a huge difference to the ski holiday clients staying in our Les Coches chalets, it is now very much quicker and easier to get away at the start of the skiing/boarding day.
- the pistes running down to Les Coches and around the arrival point of the Lac Noir bubble were altered a little for last winter making it easier to get back into the heart of Les Coches. We have seen on the webcam that work has been going on all summer in this area. We will find out what has been going on when our staff arrive to get ready for the start of the season.
- in summer 2006 two very old, very difficult drag lifts were dismantled and replaced by a new chairlift. It departs from La Roche and rises over 700m to Aime 2000. A blue piste down to the starting point of this chairlift was specially constructed to allow less able skiers & boarders to access this area.
