In Val d'Isere there are over 25 different shops where it is possible to hire skiing or boarding equipment. Some have a very wide range of skis and boards and some will have a limited but more specialist range. Most shops offering a range of equipment will split it into three or more different categories for example:-
Advanced / Star - the top of the range gear and therefore the most expensive to hire. There will be race skis, the advanced carvers, and the all mountain "free-ride" ranges. The latest products with the most recent technical innovations, whatever your type of skiing or boarding.
Intermediate / Passion - great gear, but for those who prefer progression over high performance. Last years advanced skis are often put this category, so if you are looking to try out the top skis but still stick to your budget have a look at their range.
Beginner / Loisir - to get you going. Just what you need when you are beginning, something that works well, suited to your level and the cheapest to hire.

Finlays Skiing Holidays use and recommend, to our catered chalet holiday guests, three ski/board hire shops in Val d'Isere: Snowberry, Jean Sports and Precision all are in very good locations within in the town.
Snowberry - British run ski hire shop, good location beside the nursery slopes and Train Rouge bus stop. Very good range of equipment and the staff are helpful and efficient.
Additionally for anybody hiring ski or snowboarding equipment from Snowberry, they offer an equipment storage service; leave you skies & boots overnight and pick them up on the way to skiing in the morning -great if you want to avoid carrying skis anywhere.
Precision - central location within the town, staff are very knowledgeable and mostly English speaking. They will definitely be able to suggest the best equipment for your standard. Not the cheapest shop in the town but the range of equipment and level of service is good.
Precision and Snowberry both offer a pick up and drop off service at the beginning and end of your holiday.
Jean Sports - a friendly French run shop, with a very good selection of equipment. They are well known for stocking touring skis and are the only shop in Val d'Isere to offer, for hire, an avalanche air bag system.
