Les Carroz - Flaine
Les Carroz, Flaine, France

Les Carroz is a traditional French village based at 1140 metres and just a one hour drive from Geneva. It has a lively square with interesting shops and pavement cafes.

The origins of the resort go back as far as 1936. The first drag lift was opened on 29th January 1939, and at the time was the longest in Europe! Now there is an 8 man gondola and a chair lift linking it directly into the 'Grand Massif' ski area.
The Grand Massif is a huge area that encompasses five linked villages and offers over 265kms of pistes and 78 lifts. It has terrific skiing and snow boarding with; slopes to suit all standards, wonderful runs through trees and many magnificent views of Mont Blanc. Flaine is the best known village in the region, it a is a purpose built resort with some fairly unattractive architecture, although this has been much improved in recent years. However, the satellite villages that link into the area: Les Carroz, Samoens, Morillon and Sixt are all much more picturesque and great places for a lunch stop.

Les Carroz has its own nursery slopes so it is suitable for beginners. One of the nursery slope drag lifts gives helpful access to the gondola station as it is 300m walk up hill from the village centre. There are approximately 20 restaurants, 6 bars and one night club in Les Carroz and many other activities on offer apart from skiing or boarding: snow shoeing, skidoos, tobogganing, dog sleigh rides, hot air balloon rides & paragliding as well as an ice rink, cinema and indoor tennis & table tennis.

Saint Gervais
Bettex area of St Gervais, France

is a handsome 19th century spa town only 80 minutes drive from Geneva airport.
The town is based at 810m and forms part of the Megeve ski area with skiing as high as 2350m. It is a very friendly town with some interesting shops, cosy bars and an Olympic skating rink. The lift pass you buy in Saint Gervais gives you access to 3 ski areas :-

Saint Gervais Saint Nicolas Megeve Combloux
Les Contamines Montjoie & Les Houches (access by Mont Blanc Tramway)
Bellevue Prarion

The skiing is excellent for all levels especially beginners to advanced intermediates, if you are an expert then you may want to travel across to Chamonix, for a day, where there are some very challenging slopes. In total your lift pass gives you access to 420 km of pisted slopes using 116 lifts. Access to the slopes is via a 20 person gondola.

Saint Gervais was the first thermal resort in Haute-Savoie and has been running for over 200 years. The spa baths are definitely worth a visit and the treatments are excellent for tired aching bodies after too much skiing.

Whilst in Saint Gervais most of our guests stay in the Hotel Carlina, which is a 3 star family run hotel offering comfortable rooms and excellent cuisine. All rooms are en-suite and the hotel also has a swimming pool, gym and sauna.
