Your Chalet Holiday

Many people have no idea how a catered chalet holiday works. Essentially it should be a relaxed and enjoyable skiing holiday (or snowboarding holiday!), less formal than staying in a hotel and certainly less demanding than self catering arrangements. Finlays Skiing staff run the catered chalets, keeping the chalet clean and tidy, creating a convivial atmosphere, as well as providing an extensive catering service - breakfast, afternon tea and dinner. Leaving you to enjoy all the benefits of being in one of the top ski resorts in the world.

YOUR CHALET HOLIDAY
Val d'Isere, Manchet valley, restaurant Clochtons

The majority of Finlays Skiing guests book an entire ski chalet and fill all the rooms with friends and/or family. The chalets vary in size, style and location and if you tell us your requirements, we can certainly advise you on which will best suit your party. We also accept bookings from smaller groups and from individuals, and this is a great way to meet new people and enjoy the fun and convivial atmosphere of a catered chalet holiday. All bedrooms are allocated at the time of booking.

We like to think that you will treat the ski chalet as your home for the duration of your holiday, and you can certainly bring books, games, CDs and your favourite drinks. Let us know in advance if there are vegetarians or individuals with specific food allergies, and we will make sure that the menus are devised with these requirements in mind.

Everybody is keen to get skiing and snowboarding as soon as possible on the first day. For anybody that needs lessons, particularly novices, we can help arrange these long before your arrival in resort. We can also sort out your lift passes in advance for you so that your passes can be delivered to your chalet, and we can assist you in hiring your skis, snowboards and boots.

On a Finlays Skiing Holiday you will be provided with the following meals:

Breakfast every morning which consists of tea, coffee, fruit juice, porridge, muesli, cereal, yoghurts, plus bread, jams and honey. In addition, there will ba a variety of cooked items offered each day, eg: fried egg and sausages, scrambled egg with croissants, with a full English breakfast offered on one day per week.
On the chalet staff day off breakfast is a D.I.Y affair, with guests being given the opportunity to cook their own breakfast!

Afternoon tea is prepared and left out for you to help yourself after your skiing or snowboarding, and consists of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, bread, jams, etc., plus a homemade cake or biscuits or scones.

Dinner, normally served around eight o'clock, is a delicious three course meal plus cheese accompanied by good quality house red and white wine with coffee and tea to finish. For those guests perhaps wanting to purchase another wine for a special occasion, we have a short wine list available in all chalets.
Let us know in advance if there are vegetarians or individuals with specific food allergies, and we will make sure that the menus are devised with these requirements in mind.

We think that catered chalet holidays are the ideal way to enjoy skiing and boarding. Once experienced, very few people go back to hotels or self catering.

CATERED CHALET HOLIDAY- the staff

At Finlays Skiing Holidays we choose our chalet staff carefully, and their personalities are just as important as their cooking abilities. We employ people of all ages, and we often have couples to run some of our larger chalets. In some of the chalets the staff live in, using their own bedroom and bathroom, and in other chalets, they live out.

Cooking is the major aspect of the work of our chalet hosts, but they are also responsible for keeping the chalet clean and tidy, lighting fires and so on. Linen, towels, bath mats and soap are all provided, and our staff will change bath towels and bath mats for you in the middle of the week. All our staff enjoy Wednesday as a day off, giving you the opportunity to sample dinner in one of the many local restaurants. There are a range of restaurants in the resorts catering for many tastes and our staff will be happy to advise and book on your behalf. Particularly where large groups are involved and certainly in peak times, it is advisable to book a table well in advance.

All Finlays Skiing resort directors and staff are your hosts for the week and they will do their utmost to ensure that your ski chalet is run efficiently, the food they prepare is excellent and that your stay with us is enjoyable.

All of our staff, both in the office and in the resort, will endeavour to ensure that your holiday is a success.
